ABOUT OUR PROJECTS
On June 3rd and June 4th 2009, The World is Just a Book Away opened its first 10 libraries, less than 8 months after our official launch on October 16, 2008. All of our first 10 libraries are named in honor passionate readers and key supporters of The World is Just a Book Away.
Collectively, these first 10 libraries provide more than 2,500 school children in grades 1 - 6 with access to more than 6,000 books, by introducing the idea of lending libraries for recreational reading. These libraries bring hope into the lives of many children whose families have been most affected by the devastating mudflow disaster in Sidoarjo, Indonesia that has displaced more than 60,000 people.
